In this instance, it's the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that's doing the caring.
According to an analysis conducted by Paul Driessen, author of "Eco-Imperialism: Green Power, Black Death" (Merril Press, 2012), the EPA has proposed new limits on carbon dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants, arguing that the new rules will safeguard health and welfare from storms, sea levels rising, and other ravages of man-made climate change. These new rules are in addition to the 1.9k Obama-era regulations designed to curtail or terminate coal mining as well as the use of coal. In reality, these rules attempt to dictate any activity affecting air and emissions, land and soils, waterways, and yes, even puddles in an effort to curb carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Those who worship at the altar of environmentalism justify these rules asserting they control polluters and bring vast environmental benefits to all of the nation's Joe Schlubs. But, their real target is the nation's power plants that use coal, even though those power plants EPA account for a only 0.01% of the CO2 that's annually added to Earth's atmosphere, raising CO2 levels to about 0.04% of the atmosphere. This, despite the fact that higher concentrations of atmospheric CO2 spur plant growth and green the planet.
Not that the facts matter to the ideologues who worship at the altar of environmentalism. But, one simple fact is that the assumptions upon which those regulations are based are nothing more than distortions of fact. In the end, those regulations indirectly tax all of those dumb, poor, ol' Joe Schlubs the government and those who worship at the altar of environmentalism allegedly care so much about.
The majority of citizens are simply too ignorant to know what's good for them. It's called an expanding "Nanny State."
