Unfortunately, a new federally-funded study indicates that the promises made aren't the promises delivered on.
According to an article in USA Today, biofuels from corn plants are actually worse for global warming in the short-term:
- Compared to gasoline, biofuels made with corn residue release 7% more greenhouse gases in early years of use.
- Although better for the environment in the long term, the biofuels made with corn will not be able to meet Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards to qualify as a renewable fuel. Why? Those standards require biofuels to emit 60% less carbon pollution than gasoline.
Of course and as should be expected, lobbyists for the biofuel industry are critical of the study. They argue that it was overly simplistic and overestimated certain figures.
Haven't we "been there and done that?" After the President, his administration, and EPA spend billions of taxpayer $$$s for promises made by those who worship at the altar of environmentalism, research demonstrates their ideological assertions are false.
When will the nation's taxpayers finally say "enough is enough"?
Let the discussion begin...
