Here's TJ's story:
Twenty-seven years ago, as a teenager, I was involved in two abortions
because I lived as an irresponsible, arrogant, prideful, selfish, self-centered
human being. Those abortions led me down a road of drugs, alcohol,
irresponsible sex, crime and so many other destructive things.
How could abortion lead to all that? Because it produces guilt, whether
the person realizes it or not, which turns to bad decisions, self-hatred,
anger towards others, violence and all kinds of other messed up emotions.
While these are taking place the person is in denial, refusing to recognize
there is a problem. Or, if he or she does admit to a problem, they don’t
know that it is rooted in an abortion that may have taken place years ago.
At the time of my abortion experiences I knew none of this.
How did TJ come to the point in his life that he can talk today about the children he lost to abortion?
Fr. Pavone's email discusses one of the two, Donna Gardner, who now coordinates the healing ministries for the Catholic Charities Office of Respect Life for the Diocese of Palm Beach. In particular, Donna coordinates Rachel’s Vineyard retreats in English and Spanish as well as the ministry to the inmates of the two prisons.
What's interesting about Donna's pro-life work is that she came to it after leaving a successful sales career to be a stay-at-home mother. A graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she earned a Master’s degree in counselling, Donna resides in Jupiter, Florida, with her husband of 29 years, Eric, and their 3 children.
Kudos to Donna Gardner who demonstrates her love of God and neighbor through her care for the unborn as well as those who commit the sin of abortion, whether directly or indirectly.
