Most of the Mantle cards from that set which still exist today were not sold in large quantities all around the country in 1952 due to the "high-number" card releases that took place later in the year and to a fewer number of sales outlets. At year's end, some Mantle and 1952 Topps cards were salvaged rather than destroyed, along with vast numbers of the 1952 Topps cards.
This is currently the highest priced Mickey Mantle card publicly sold, any card, any grade. We are thrilled that everyone finds this card as special as we do. A well centered, perfect color 1952 Topps Mantle is a true rarity.
