According to NBC-Austin, the weight of a backpack can be really bad for a child’s back, possibly leading to chronic muscular and lower back pain. A child should not carry more than 10% to 20% of that child's body weight in a backpack and the backpack should have two straps not one.
- using IPads rather than books;
- taking/replacing books in lockers in between classes; and,
- roller backpacks.
